FISHING -

Salmon fishing in Scotland is pretty near as good as it gets. The ‘big rivers’ are the Tweed, Tay and Spey, and are renowned as the best in the world. The best beats however can be difficult to book with vacancies only occurring because of dead men’s shoes. Our aim at Game & Golf is to arrange the best possible beats given the timing of your trip and the type of river you want to fish.

The Rivers Tay and Tweed are seriously big rivers and boats are used to enable the water to be covered correctly. The ghillies (guides) on these beats are known as the boatmen. There will however be excellent fishing from the banks on both rivers. The Spey is big and majestic but boats are seldom used other than transporting the fishers from side to side.

The smaller rivers can be just as productive and in many ways considerably more intimate to fish. Rivers such as the Helmsdale, the Deveron and the Dee are wonderful rivers set in some of the most outstanding countryside in Scotland and can be prolific given the right conditions. The main tributary of the Spey is the river Avon (pronounced Anne) and there can not be a more delightful river to fish in any part of the world. The water is crystal clear is like fishing in a gin and tonic. The Avon’s main tributary is the Livet and the home of Glenlivet distilleries who arguably produce the finest Scotch Malt Whisky in Scotland.

Tell us what you like and would like to experience and let us try and arrange a fishing and golfing experience second to none.

North, South, East or West, fishing and golf in Scotland work in perfect unison.
